About Lori Sweere
Over the course of her career, human resources executive Lori Sweere has established a habit of professional success. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Behavior and Communications from Concordia University, St. Paul in Minnesota, and since then has held several Vice President positions in the field of human resources. From 2001 to 2007, Lori Sweere served as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer with Chicago, Illinois insurance firm CNA Financial. She joined CNA Financial as part of a turnaround team, and over the course of her tenure, participated in reestablishing the company's stability.
In 2007, Lori Sweere returned to Minnesota to accept a position with United HealthGroup in Minnetonka. As Executive Vice President of Human Capital, she successfully increased by employee engagement by 12 points over her first three years, placing United HealthGroup in the top 25% of companies in its category for employee engagement. Ms. Sweere also developed numerous programs aimed at executive development, increased internal promotion rates, and reduced staff turnover. For these achievements, she earned the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's top rating of 100% for four consecutive years. She has also earned three benchmark recognitions from Bersin Consulting and two from the Corporate Leadership Council for her successes in human resource and leadership development. Under Lori Sweere’s direction, United HealthGroup won the INROADS Corporate Plus Platinum Award in the “Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles” category and earned status as an official “Webby Awards” honoree for the careers website. Additionally, United HealthGroup has been recognized as one of the Top 25 companies for developing leaders by Fortune Magazine and as one of the Top 50 companies for Human Resources by HR Executive Magazine.
Lori Sweere maintains involvement in a variety of charitable activities. She led the personnel committee for the United Service Organizations in Chicago and regularly donates to such organizations as the Diabetes Association, Humane Society, and the United Healthcare Children's Foundation.
